Through the integration of traditional methods with the healing arts, we create a truly holistic approach to address the deeper psychological issues and belief systems that contribute to our emotional distress. Issues of depression, anxiety, poor self-esteem, trauma, abuse, life changes, relationship and health problems all create stress that can be alleviated. Our compassionate and highly trained professionals integrate the use of guided imagery, energy balancing and spiritual awareness into the healing process. We utilize the latest technology in the field of psychotherapy called EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a proven technique developed in the mid 1980s. It was originally used for treating people who have been traumatized by either life threatening events or an upsetting experience. As the therapist facilitates a process that creates a bilateral stimulation of the brain, triggering a rapid eye movement, a natural adaptive process is activated in the mind and the body. The belief is that when a trauma occurs, the flood of adrenaline into the body and the brain inhibits normal adaptive processing. The trauma is then stored deep within the brain in an area that is inaccessible for normal processing, and a heightened emotional response occurs as stimulus in the environment triggers the body memory. EMDR accesses the original trauma and takes it to the highest point of adaptation, leading to a rapid resolution. This technique was originally used for PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome), such as with Viet Nam vets or sexual abuse survivors. Our therapists are now using it successfully for a wide range of disorders, reporting that it reprocesses deep core issues quickly, and significantly reduces the length of treatment. The integration of psychotherapy into the healing process of any disorder, pain, or crisis that brings a person into our Center opens the door to access the core beliefs that are at the root of the problem and leads the individual on a journey of self discovery. As we access the core emotional issues, and release the emotional charge and attachment to the past, we can more fully live our lives in the present.
